I believe in continuing education, and I try to take part in any courses that will serve to expand my knowledge of yoga philosophy and application, making me a better, more connected teacher. I recently completed two continuing education programs, one of them being a foundational Ayurveda course through Yoga Veda Institute, and it has renewed my interest in this ancient system of preventative and holistic health care. After all, my very first experience with yoga was through it's "sister science", Ayurveda, on trip to India nearly a decade ago. The word "Ayurveda" is a sanskrit term that is derived from two root words - 'Ayus', meaning life, and 'veda', meaning science or knowledge - and therefore translates literally to 'life science'. This is a vast subject that should be studied over a period of years, and I look forward to learning more about this incredible ancient science. However, this was a wonderful course that was put together and hosted masterfully by the lovely Jacky Rae.
